Go to your bathroom. Stand near the center of the room. Look up. Chances are, what you're looking at is some kind of NuTone bath fan.
NuTone Bath Fans And Heaters
NuTone ventilation products come in a wide variety of styles - with or without lighting, decorative, utilitarian, with heaters, with humidity sensors, with automatic settings, and combinations of everything in between. NuTone (which is a sister division of Broan or Broan-NuTone) has been a leading bath fan manufacturer for decades and is, easily, the most installed brand in the country. Because building codes very often require a type of ventilation product in bathrooms, it's a safe bet to assume you have one.
Broken Bath Fan
But what happens when it breaks?
Bath fans do more than just regulate odor - although, let's get real, that is an important feature. Ventilation fans play an incredibly vital role in the health of your home and family. As they properly vent and remove excess moisture from the space, they're fighting dangerous mold and mildew build-up. So repairing a broken bath fan quickly is important. If left nonfunctioning, you're taking a real gamble. Mold and mildew can grow exceptionally fast. Any delay in fixing a broken NuTone bath fan could lead to costly damage.
Finding NuTone Fan Parts
NuTone bath fans tend to lead a long life. While that's nothing to complain about, it sometimes makes finding replacement NuTone fan parts difficult. It's possible that the fan installed in your bathroom is ten, fifteen, or even twenty years old. We've seen some wildly dated fans come through our doors. The older the model, the more difficult it is to find parts. Thankfully, it is possible to locate all available repair and replacement parts for your NuTone bath fan using this simple "Parts Finder."
To get started on finding the correct and available parts for your NuTone bath fan, follow these simple steps below:
Find Your NuTone Bath Fan Model Number
Here's a helpful video on locating your bath fan model number:
- Remove the grill cover from your existing NuTone bath fan. The grill can be removed by pulling it down about two inches, then squeezing the mounting springs to release it from the housing.
- Examine the housing and locate the stamp or sticker with the fan information. The stamp or sticker is located in the corner closest to the power outlet.
- Find the "Model Number" associated with your bath fan. It will be labeled as such.
- It may be helpful to take a picture with your cell phone, so you have it on hand when shopping.

Fan Part No Longer Available
In the event your model is so dated that parts are no longer available, it's time to start shopping for a new bath fan. In some cases, you may get lucky and find a new model that fits into the existing drywall cut-out. But that doesn't happen often. The good news is that installing a new fan is relatively simple, even if you do have to enlarge the existing hole. Better still, every fan purchase comes with free technical support, so we can walk you through the process step-by-step.
